We are pleased to invite you to a major conference in Washington aimed at charting a new direction for America in the world. At a time when the American people are beginning the process of choosing new leaders, the conference on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, will explore how the United States can re-assert its leadership for a more peaceful, prosperous, and secure world.

Sponsored by The Century Foundation and the Center for American Progress, the conference will feature speakers and panels on today's most pressing international issues of peace and security, including U.S. nuclear weapons policy, configuring America's defenses to 21st century realities, America's role in the Middle East, the global economy, and energy and the environment. Panelists will include established and emerging voices in the international policy realm, including senior policy makers.

Confirmed speakers include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley Clark, former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, former CIA Director John Deutch, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel and Egypt Daniel Kurtzer, former Secretary of Treasury Bob Rubin, Senator Gordon Smith, and former Deputy Commander, Headquarters U.S. European Command Charles Wald.

The full-day conference continues a tradition of highly successful foreign policy consultations organized jointly by the Center for American Progress and The Century Foundation in New York in 2006 and in Washington in 2003.
