Corporate and Social Responsibility Lecture at the University of Pennsylvania
December 05, 2007
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Corporations' wealth has continued to increase to all time highs while parts of our nation and the rest of the world are faced with increasing socio-economic and environmental challenges. Corporate and social responsibility is the concept of asking companies to consider the economic, social, and environmental impacts of their activities wherever they operate in the world. Through this, companies realize that stakeholders are just as imperative as shareholders, and make positive impacts on communities in the world.
These concerns raise the question: what should a corporation's role be in the social life of communities? What are some of the externalities of business that are negatively impacting communities? How can students improve awareness about corporate and social responsibility and hold businesses accountable? Aaron Hurst, founder and President of the Taproot Foundation, will discuss corporate and social responsibility and aim to answer these questions.
Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by Campus Progress and the Wharton Politics & Business Association.
