Special Screening of 'Bama Girl
July 02, 2008
6:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Written and directed by Rachel Goslins, 'Bama Girl, follows a charismatic black woman’s quest to become the 2005 Homecoming Queen at the University of Alabama, one of the great old Deep South institutions. Homecoming has a rich history at the University and across the South, tied into centuries of privilege, old money, power and
racial exclusivity. This is a film about black and white, about the Old South and the New South, and about an unexpected microcosm of electoral politics that mirrors much of what is happening across our country today.
Prior to the screening there will be a reception and immediately following the screening there will be a panel discussion with director Rachael Goslins and star Jessica Thomas.
Sponsored by Campus Progress, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights and 3Leo Productions.
