Tell Congress to Preserve and Improve Tax Credits that Help Working Families

Congress voted last year to help hardworking Americans make ends meet by reforming the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit. But the improvements to these critical tax credits will disappear if Congress does not act soon.

Contact your member of Congress today to demand that they don’t let improvements to these credits expire.

One of the most critical reforms to the EITC that is at risk of disappearing is a provision allowing families with three or more kids to receive a larger credit. This reform not only helps families who face higher rates of poverty, but recent research implies that it could improve health outcomes for low-income mothers.

The stakes are high for both the EITC and Child Tax Credit. If Congress fails to act, a parent who works full time at the minimum wage will lose nearly $1500 of their tax credit. This would have a devastating effect on children in low-income families.

We must stand up to preserve the 2009 reforms to the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

Contact your member of Congress today to preserve and improve these essential programs.
