Don't Light the Fireworks Early: Make Sure Your Senators Support Reconciliation
On Sunday night, the House of Representatives passed the reconciliation bill for health care reform and college affordability. Yesterday, President Obama signed health care reform into law.
The Senate still needs to pass the “fix-it” reconciliation bill. Their vote is expected to happen this week. If it fails, 500,000 students could lose their Pell Grants and millions more would see theirs cut 60%.
This bill would increase the amount of subsidies given to low-income American and increase funding for community health centers in low-income areas, along with other significant improvements.
Make sure your Senators hear from you before they vote.
