Massachusetts: Ask Your State Representative to Make MA Conflict-Free

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (“Congo”) is a country rich diversity and natural resources. However, the Congo is marred by decades of conflict that have contributed to a severe lack of development and resulted in the death of more than 5.4 million people. Armed groups have murdered, raped, and displaced hundreds of thousands. They often fund their reigns of terror by exploiting the Congo’s massive wealth in minerals that end up in our cell phones and automobiles.

Massachusetts, join the many constituents already calling for a conflict-free state. Tell MA House Speaker DeLeo and House Ways and Means Chairman that you do not want your taxes to fund ongoing conflict and human rights abuses. Ask them to pass H.2898 An Act Relative to Congo Conflict Minerals into law before the end of the informal legislative session on December 31, 2014.
