Support Hard Working Americans: Increase the Minimum Wage

Recent developments on Capitol Hill could provide hard-working Americans with a well-earned raise. In the House of Representatives, a discharge petition has been introduced by John Barrow (D-GA) for a bill sponsored by George Miller (D-CA) that increases the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 per hour. If 218 members sign on, it will force a floor vote, and those same 218 could vote the bill through.

Simultaneously in the Senate, Ted Kennedy (D-MA) is asking workers around the country to become citizen co-sponsors for his bill, the Fair Minimum Wage Act. With your signature in hand, Sen. Kennedy will demand a vote on the minimum wage in the Senate as soon as possible.

You can support both efforts! Urge your Representative to sign the discharge petition and add your name in support of the Fair Minimum Wage Act. Both actions will send a clear message to Capitol Hill: Millions of hard-working Americans deserve a livable wage.

By submiting this letter, you agree to have your name forwarded to the office of Senator Edward Kennedy, which will list your name publicly as a citizen co-sponsor for the Fair Minimum Wage Act. For more information on Senator Kennedy's privacy policy, please click here.
