Don’t let it happen in the Senate. We need this energy price relief and we need the profits from the sale to invest in low carbon energy solutions. I strongly urge you to take a realistic, comprehensive approach to solving our energy crisis. We need immediate relief that will continue to bring down oil prices now, while not committing us to decades of expanding our addiction to oil. And we need a long-term plan that will permanently reduce our oil consumption and increase our use of clean, renewable energy and increase our energy efficiency. That makes sense to me. I am sure it makes sense to you, too. As we tackle this energy crisis, it is important that we stop listening to big oil companies. As has become painfully obvious, oil companies are only out to protect themselves. While hard-working Americans are getting their wallets siphoned at the pump, the oil companies are making record profits.
